SLICE OF LIFE OF ANTELOPES THIRSTING FOR LIFE<br />WITH PIX AND VID<br />By Shuk Yee Tsang<br />A striking look at the daily struggle of antelopes shows the animals searching for water as the landscape dries at the end of the rainy season.<br />The footage was filmed by professional wildlife photographers Roger and Pat de la Harpe from Hermanus, South Africa, while working on a book about Mashatu Game Reserve.<br /> The couple documented the impalas’ quiet resilience as rivers and waterholes gradually disappeared, forcing them to travel farther in search of vital resources.<br />Roger said: “As the rainy season ends, the rivers and waterholes begin to dry and the animals are forced to travel farther and farther to find water.<br />“We spent a few weeks in the area and could visibly see the water levels dropping as the days went by.<br />“We were working on a book about Mashatu Game Reserve, and this was part of the narrative.<br />“People often comment on the dryness and the never-ending quest for water.<br />“The photographs were shot over a period of a few weeks.<br />“Not really any special precautions, one just needs to keep an eye out for elephants.”<br />END
