Year 5 children from seven schools in the Alton area took part in the annual Primary Big Sing at Eggar's School in Holybourne.<br />There were around 260 participants from Anstey Junior School and Selborne, Bentley, Andrews' Endowed, The Butts, Four Marks and Rowledge primary schools.<br />They arrived at Eggar's at 9am on October 21 and sang in a massed choir rehearsal from 9.30am to 10.15am.<br />After a 20-minute break - in which copious amounts of custard creams were consumed, courtesy of eight Year 8 and eight Year 9 helpers from Eggar's - they had another 45-minute massed rehearsal.<br />This one started with a photo shoot for the benefit of the schools and the Herald, and the video cameras were whirring to capture their performance of Journey's 1981 hit Don't Stop Believin', a popular choice for school choirs since it featured in the pilot episode of the television series Glee in 2009.<br />A 50-minute long Junior Schools Showcase followed, and then after lunch came the climax of the event, with two half-hour concerts.<br />Group A - Selborne, Anstey, Rowledge and Andrews' - took the stage from 1.15pm to 1.45pm, and after a quick turnaround Group B - The Butts, Four Marks and Bentley - sang from 2pm to 2.30pm to round off a memorable day.
