In a shocking revelation, the suicide note of Dr. Sampada Munde (28) — who ended her life in a Phaltan hotel, Satara district, on October 23 — has named a Member of Parliament (MP) and his two personal assistants, alleging relentless pressure to issue fake fitness certificates for accused individuals.<br /><br />According to the note, the MP personally spoke to her after she refused to comply. The doctor also wrote that the MP’s assistants had visited her hospital and demanded fake certificates even for accused persons who never appeared for examination.<br /><br />Dr. Munde’s case took a darker turn when police discovered the name of Sub-Inspector Gopal Badne written on her palm. It is alleged that Badne raped her four times over the past five months and also pressured her to falsify medical reports.<br /><br />She further accused Prashant Banker, a software engineer and son of her landlord, of mental harassment.<br /><br />Police said Dr. Munde, a native of Beed district, was serving at the government hospital in Phaltan tehsil. A case of rape and abetment to suicide has been registered against Badne and Banker, and two police teams have been formed to trace them. Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis has directed the Satara SP to suspend the accused sub-inspector.<br /><br />Her relatives claimed she was also under pressure to alter post-mortem and medical reports of certain accused persons. They said Dr. Munde had earlier complained to the Satara SP and DSP, but no action was taken. She had warned in her letter that if anything happened to her, the authorities would be responsible.<br /><br />A cousin added that Sampada was under severe work stress and faced harassment from senior doctors and police personnel. She had confided that if her grievances went unheard, she might take the extreme step.<br /><br />According to SP Doshi, hotel staff broke open the door with a duplicate key after repeated knocks went unanswered.
