Taiwan’s Mainland Affairs Council, which handles cross-strait affairs, has slammed China’s decision to designate October 25 as “Taiwan Restoration Day.” The date coincides with Taiwan's Retrocession Day, which recognizes Japan's surrender of Taiwan to the Republic of China, or ROC. The MAC says that day has nothing to do with the People's Republic of China or the Chinese Communist Party.
