Typhoon Kalmaegi struck Vietnam with powerful winds and heavy rainfall after making landfall in Gai Lai Province on Friday, uprooting trees and damaging buildings. Vietnamese state media confirmed two fatalities in Gia Lai and Dak Lak provinces. Authorities evacuated over 537,000 people, many by boat, as floodwaters rose and landslides threatened. The central provinces were already struggling with floods from record-breaking rains before the typhoon's arrival. Kalmaegi is forecast to deliver over 24 inches of rain in some regions.
