Typhoon Uwan (international name: Fung-wong) continues to rapidly intensify as it moves closer to Catanduanes, according to PAGASA’s 5 a.m. update on Sunday, Nov. 9.<br /><br />The typhoon was last located 195 kilometers east of Catanduanes, packing maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 215 kph.<br /><br />Moving west-northwest at 35 kph, Uwan is forecast to reach super typhoon strength by Sunday afternoon as it passes north of Camarines Norte and Quezon province.
