Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh: A controversy erupted in the Khutar police station area after BJP MLA from Puranpur, Baburam Paswan, allegedly demanded ₹4,000 from an e-rickshaw driver following a minor collision.<br /><br />The incident occurred near Tikunia intersection on the Assam Highway when Paswan’s Scorpio reportedly brushed against an e-rickshaw driven by Chhatrapal, a resident of Lakhimpur Kheri. The MLA allegedly accused the driver of breaking his car’s indicator and demanded compensation.<br /><br />When the driver pleaded that he was poor and could not afford to pay, the MLA reportedly continued to insist. A crowd soon gathered and protested against the MLA’s behaviour, collecting ₹4,000 through public donations to support the driver. Police later reached the spot and dispersed the crowd.<br /><br />Videos of the altercation quickly went viral on social media, drawing sharp criticism of the MLA’s conduct.
