AOC criticized Republicans for trying to profit from the GOP spending bill. She called out a part of the bill that would allow eight Republican senators to sue for taxpayer-funded payouts as compensation for being investigated in connection with the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. The payouts could be worth millions of dollars and have been described as a “million-dollar jackpot.” The provision reportedly applies to Sens. Lindsey Graham, Bill Hagerty, Josh Hawley, Dan Sullivan, Tommy Tuberville, Ron Johnson, Cynthia Lummis, and Marsha Blackburn.<br />In her speech, AOC said, “How is this even on the floor? How can we, as members of Congress—Republican or Democrat—vote to enrich ourselves by stealing from the American people?”<br />
