BELUGA WHALES KNOCK DOWN AN UNDEWATER MIRROR<br />WITH VID<br />BY SALONI MATHUR<br />Rare footage shows a pod of curious beluga whales playing with an underwater mirror and knocking it down.<br />The video was recorded by Mikhail Korostelev, founder of a wildlife travel agency from Russia. <br />He, with his team, wanted to conduct a small experiment to see how the Beluga whales react to a mirror placed underwater. <br />He set up cameras around the mirror and recorded their interaction with the foreign object. <br />A pod of curious beluga whales can be seen approaching the mirror and knocking it down while trying to figure it out.<br />Mikhail said: “Beluga whales are known to be very curious and social animals. <br />“Their curiosity is linked to their high intelligence and complex social structures. <br />“They are also very playful, as can be seen when they try to interact with the mirror but accidentally knock it down.”<br />ENDs
