A North Carolina jury has ordered TikTok influencer **Brenay Kennard**, who has nearly three million followers, to pay **$1.75 million** in damages for her role in breaking up another woman’s marriage.<br /><br />The verdict follows a lawsuit filed by **Akira Montague**, who accused Kennard of having an affair with her husband, **Timothy Montague**. According to the complaint, Kennard deliberately pursued Timothy, publicly displayed their relationship, and ultimately caused the collapse of the Montagues’ marriage.<br /><br />Jurors found Kennard guilty of **criminal conversation**, resulting in a **$250,000 penalty**, and **alienation of affection**, which carried a **$1.5 million fine**. North Carolina is among the few states that still allow alienation of affection claims, letting a spouse sue a third party for causing the breakdown of a marriage.<br /><br />Akira, who wed Timothy in 2018 and shares children with him, said the affair caused her deep emotional harm and disrupted her family. She also alleged that Kennard posted images of her children online.
