Meta has begun warning thousands of young Australian users to save their data and delete their accounts ahead of Australia’s new ban on social media accounts for children under 16. Major platforms must block under-16 users starting December 10, with teens given two weeks to download data or verify age through Yoti. Meta estimates about 500,000 Australians ages 13–15 currently use Instagram and Facebook.
