A rhino and elephant clashed tusk to horn in an epic battle over territory.<br /><br />Natalie van den Berg was visiting Botlierskop Private Game Reserve, South Africa, on October 3 when she was treated to a rare sight.<br /><br />Dramatic footage captured the moment a huge elephant and rhino came face to face at the top of a ridge before charging at each other.<br /><br />Despite standing its ground, the rhino was pushed back by the sheer force of the elephant while the rest of its herd watched on.<br /><br />Natalie said: “It was truly a once in a lifetime experience. Simba, our guide, mentioned that he had never seen it before.<br /><br />“We have done a couple of game drives at Botlierskop now and have never experienced anything like that before.<br /><br />“It was fantastic and so interesting to see two animals of that size go up against each other.<br /><br />“Our guide for the game drive, had just finished mentioning how the rhino and elephant didn’t get along.<br /><br />“Just as we were about to leave the area the rhino came up over the hill and the whole heard of elephants surrounded the rhino.<br /><br />“There was a bit of a standoff between one of the elephants and the rhino before they finally started to engage.<br /><br />“We believe they were fighting over territory as the rhino tried to walk through the area where the herd of elephants were.”
