LION MUM CARRIES CUB TO NEW HIDING SPOT
WITH PIX AND VID
By Shuk Yee Tsang
A lioness is seen carefully carrying her tiny cub across the land.
Pareet Shah, 46, a professional photographer from Kenya, captured this rare moment while following the Marsh Pride of lions across the Maasai Mara.
Pareet has been photographing animals for decades, starting as a young boy exploring local National Parks with his family.
He shared that observing the lioness transport her cubs was a magical and intimate wildlife encounter.
Pareet said: “Having followed the Marsh Pride for over 10 years, we suspected one of the lionesses had cubs because she was often absent during meals and hunts.
“One morning, while watching some elephants, we noticed movement in a thicket.
"At first, I thought the lioness was carrying prey, but it was actually her cub.
“She had three tiny cubs, and we watched her carry each one individually over about a kilometre to a new hiding spot.
" We observed this for over an hour and felt incredibly blessed to witness it.
“This is how lionesses protect their cubs in the early weeks, keeping them hidden until they are old enough to join the rest of the pride.”
END
