Bubble Puppy — A Gathering Of Promises 1969 (USA, Garage, Psychedelic Rock)

Bubble Puppy formed in San Antonio, Texas, in 1967 under the name Willowdale Handcar. The name "Bubble Puppy" was chosen while they were high at a Hendrix concert after reading Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World." Under the new name, they headed to Austin, where they played at the now-legendary Vulcan Gas Company, but after signing with International Artists, they moved to Houston. Their first 45 reached number 9 on the US charts in March 1969 and combined hard rock with fresh vocal harmonies. The album, which peaked at #176 on the American charts, continued in the same style, and although three subsequent singles didn't match the success of the first, the band became International Artists' most successful act since 13th Floor Elevators. While touring with Steppenwolf, bassist Nick St. Nicholas suggested Bubble Puppy move to California and sign with their label, ABC/Dunhill. Consequently, they changed their name to Demian, releasing an album of the same name in 1971.

Tracks:

01. Hot Smoke & Sassafras - 0:00

02.
