Sri Lanka grapples with deadly Cyclone Ditwah floods, landslides<br /><br />Over 1.4 million people have been affected by the fallout of Cyclone Ditwah, UNICEF said on Tuesday, after the deadly storm triggered widespread flooding and landslides, killing at least 410 people.<br /><br />Drone video released by UNICEF on Tuesday showed buildings and vehicles submerged in the flooded area surrounding the Kelani river in Kelaniya, near the Sri Lankan capital, Colombo.<br /><br />Homes have been swept away and communities isolated, cutting off essential services, such as water, healthcare and schooling, UNICEF spokesperson Ricardo Pires said in Geneva, as hundreds of army and police personnel combed through regions hit by landslides to retrieve bodies.<br /><br />Deadly storms have swept across South and Southeast Asia in recent days, devastating large parts of Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand and claiming hundreds of lives. <br /><br />UNICEF / UNTV
