AMAZING LION PLAYFIGHTS AND WATER REFLECTIONS <br />WITH PIX AND VID<br />By Shuk Yee Tsang<br />A pride of lions is seen playfighting and enjoying a drink leading to an amazing image reflecting in the water.<br />Peter Haygarth, 62, a freelance photographer and videographer from Durham, UK, captured this moment at the Zimanga Private Game Reserve in South Africa.<br />He shared that seeing the lions playing in the open dry riverbed was a rare opportunity, as they are usually resting among thick bushes. <br />The playfighting is normal behaviour for young lions, helping them develop skills they will need for hunting as adults.<br />Peter has been photographing animals since his late teens and has travelled extensively across Africa, visiting countries including Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, and Zambia.<br /> His long-standing passion for wildlife has led him to document countless intimate animal moments in the wild.<br />Peter said: “It was so special to see the lions playing in the dry riverbed as it was a very open area allowing for good visibility.<br />“The playfighting you see is completely normal for young lions, it’s how they practice the skills they will need later in life.<br />“On this morning we had been looking for the lions since sunrise, and once we found them in such a great location, we stayed for several hours.<br />"Sometimes it’s nice to put the camera down and just watch and appreciate what you are witnessing.<br />“The lions don’t have names, but every interaction is fascinating to observe.<br />“This is one of many videos I have taken in the wild, and it’s always great to hear positive comments from viewers."<br />ENDS
