During the European autumn, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria completed an in-depth study of Swedish Air Force operations, a key stage in her ongoing officer training within the Armed Forces.<br /><br />The highlight of the program took place at the Norrbotten Air Wing in Luleå, where the Crown Princess had the opportunity to fly in a JAS 39 Gripen fighter jet during an exercise mission.<br /><br />After receiving briefings on the planning and execution of air operations, she met with the Fighter Squadron and took part in a simulation involving air-to-air combat and the defense of strategic Swedish bridges against two simulated enemy aircraft.<br /><br />According to Johan Lörelius, administrator at the Air Combat School, the Princess flew alongside the division commander:<br /><br />“The Crown Princess was highly focused and impressed by the tactics, cooperation, and capabilities demonstrated by the JAS 39 Gripen fighters during the mission.”<br /><br />The exercise marked the first time the future Queen of Sweden participated in an operational flight aboard a high-performance fighter aircraft, a symbolic step in her military education.<br /><br />Source and images: Forsvarsmakten | X @Forsvarsmakten
