Palace: Marcos pushes anti-dynasty bill, other priority measures to stop abuse of power

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is pushing for the proposed anti-dynasty bill and three other measures to stop the abuse of power and strengthen Filipinos’ rights to choose their leaders. In a press conference on Dec. 10, 2025, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stressed the importance of the proposed Anti-Dynasty Bill, Party-list System Reform Act, Independent People’s Commission Act, and Citizen Access and Disclosure of Expenditures for National Accountability Act, citing shifts in the country’s political environment and growing public clamor for fairer governance. Castro said the public demanded 'a fairer system.' 'The President wants to let the people know that you have a choice — one based on merit, not just because you share the same surname,' she added. In 2022, Marcos, as a presidential aspirant, said that there was nothing wrong with political dynasties, saying politics was all about performance.

VIDEO BY CATHERINE VALENTE

Subscribe to The Manila Times Channel - https://tmt.ph/YTSubscribe
Visit our website at https://www.manilatimes.net

Follow us:
Facebook - https://tmt.ph/facebook
Instagram - https://tmt.ph/instagram
Twitter - https://tmt.ph/twitter
DailyMotion - https://tmt.ph/dailymotion

Subscribe to our Digital Edition - https://tmt.ph/digital

Check out our Podcasts:
Spotify - https://tmt.ph/spotify
Apple Podcasts - https://tmt.ph/applepodcasts
Amazon Music - https://tmt.ph/amazonmusic
Deezer: https://tmt.ph/deezer
Stitcher: https://tmt.ph/stitcher
Tune In: https://tmt.ph/tunein

#themanilatimes
#tmtnews
#philippines
