Moonkyte — Count Me Out 1971 (UK, Psychedelic, Folk Rock)

The only album by the Bradford, West Yorkshire, band. The quartet's history began in the late 1960s, when frontman Dave Stansfield and his wife opened a club in Bradford, frequented by future celebrities such as Alexis Korner, Keef Hartley, Chicken Shack, and Fleetwood Mac. Stansfield eventually hired guitarist Dave Foster and, as they say, hit it off. Surrounded by hippies and numerous performers, the duo began writing their own songs and honing them with the help of bassist Trevor Craven and drummer Mick Humphreys. The album was recorded in London in October 1970. According to Dave Stansfield, Moonkyte soon recorded a second album, but it remains unreleased. As for the only release, all 12 tracks are a stunning example of folk-rock creativity. Excellent British psychedelia in its classic sense: melodic, slightly meditative compositions using national folk motifs, fantastical imagery, plus some good arrangements and fitting vocals.

Tracks:

01.
