Identifying himself as Ultraman, the alien was dispatched by U40 after it detected threats to Earth from monsters and supernatural phenomena. Warning humanity of the impending threat through the Ultra Sign glowing in the sky, he merges with Hikari in a third-kind encounter. From then on, whenever danger arises, Hikari uses the Beam Flasher to transform into Ultraman and battle monsters and aliens.
