The third-generation Nissan Leaf is now rolling off the production line at Nissan's revamped Sunderland plant. The automaker has invested £450 million in UK production of the new Leaf, as well as in operational processes and the supply chain. The start of production in Sunderland marks the realization of Nissan's global EV36Zero vision and the return of the vehicle that pioneered mass production of electric vehicles more than a decade ago.<br /><br />The new Leaf is Nissan's most advanced vehicle to date. For its production, the company redesigned the Sunderland plant, enabling the manufacture of electric vehicles on a second production line for the first time.
