Olympic flame winds its way through southern Italy<br /><br />The Olympic flame headed north from the southern mainland of Italy on Sunday during the sixteenth stage of a two-month torch relay crisscrossing Italy ahead of the start of the 2026 Winter Games. The day started in the Cosenza, known for its artistic and cultural characteristics, and headed north with the day’s relay expected to end in coastal city of Salerno in the early evening Sunday. After being lit last month in ancient Olympia, the Greek home of the ancient Games, and handed over to Italian Games organizers in early December, the torch set off from Rome’s historic Stadio dei Marmi on December 6.
