Danpei Tange, an alcoholic former boxer, was soundly beaten by this boy who called himself Joe Yabuki. Witnessing Joe's innate boxing talent during a brawl with members of the local gang, the Onihime-kai, Danpei began trying to persuade him to become a top-class boxer. However, Joe exploited Danpei's passion for him, taking his allowance money and leading the children of the slum on rampages. Eventually, he turned to crime, was arrested by the police, and sent to a juvenile detention center.
