http://kyegrace.com In the past buyers and sellers would turn to a Realtor to be the source of all information relating to real estate. In my opinion that is no longer the case. The internet and its ease of use has put in the consumers hands the ability to research a property, neighborhood, town, city, schools, local businesses, recent sales, zoning, crime, upcoming development...well you get the idea. The consumer has the ability to know as much or more about any of the topics above. Realtors need to accept that they are no longer the keepers of all information real estate related. What Realtors should focus on is becoming the absolute best at everything the consumer can't or doesn't want to do. A few examples are writing contracts; negotiating prices; understanding building construction, design and faults. This does not mean a Realtor should stop learning the former, however they should acknowledge that the consumer may very well be on par or ahead of them & that's OK.
