Luther star Idris Elba has been knighted in the New Year Honours.The 53-year-old actor, who is best known for his role as DCI John Luther in the BBC crime series, has been honoured for his services to young people.Sir Idris has long been campaigning on the issue of youth violence, starting the initiative Don’t Stop Your Future (DSYF), which works with community grassroots organisations in a bid to put an end to knife crime.
