What is Diverticulitis, and how can this be avoided?<br /><br />In an exclusive interview with the Manila Times on Monday, January 26, Dr. Paolo Demapelis, a gastroenterologist, provided an insight on diverticulitis, the disease that sent President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to a hospital. He said diverticulitis starts with diverticulosis, the outpouching of pouches in the colon. It is common among the elderly. Demapelis said a low-fiber diet can increase the risk of developing these pouches in the colon wall.
