A new phase of geopolitical tension is raising questions about the future of India–Russia relations. After the Ukraine war, the United States has intensified sanctions against Russia and is urging its allies to reduce engagement with Moscow. This has indirectly affected India, especially over its continued purchase of Russian oil and long-standing defence cooperation.
