कांग्रेस ने फैसला किया है कि वह पश्चिम बंगाल विधानसभा चुनाव अकेले लड़ेगी। यह निर्णय पार्टी अध्यक्ष मल्लिकार्जुन खरगे के आवास पर हुई बैठक में लिया गया, जिसकी पुष्टि प्रभारी महासचिव गुलाम अहमद मीर ने की। इससे पहले मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी भी स्पष्ट कर चुकी हैं कि तृणमूल कांग्रेस भी चुनाव अकेले लड़ेगी। कांग्रेस ने इस बार लेफ्ट के साथ गठबंधन में रुचि नहीं दिखाई है। अधीर रंजन चौधरी ने कहा कि पार्टी आलाकमान के फैसले के साथ है। पिछले चुनावों में कांग्रेस और लेफ्ट का प्रदर्शन कमजोर रहा है, जबकि टीएमसी और बीजेपी मुख्य मुकाबले में रही हैं। <br /> <br />The Congress has decided to contest the West Bengal Assembly elections independently.
