A chain-snatching incident has been reported from the Kyathasandra area of Tumakuru, where an elderly woman was targeted early in the morning while opening her petty shop.<br /><br />Incident on Maidala Road<br /><br />The incident took place on February 15 at around 6:30 a.m. on Maidala Road in the Kyathasandra locality. The victim, identified as Parvathamma, runs a small petty shop in the area.<br /><br />According to reports, a man approached her shop under the pretext of purchasing a cigarette. As Parvathamma turned to hand it over, the accused suddenly grabbed her mangalsutra chain and pulled it forcefully.<br /><br />The chain snapped due to the sudden jerk, and the accused managed to flee with only half of the broken chain.<br /><br />Victim Injured During Struggle<br /><br />Startled by the attack, Parvathamma screamed for help and attempted to chase the accused. However, the force of the snatching caused her to lose balance and fall. Despite her efforts, the accused escaped from the scene.<br /><br />CCTV Footage and Police Action<br /><br />The entire episode was captured on a nearby CCTV camera. The footage reportedly shows the suspect entering the shop, asking for a cigarette, and then abruptly snatching the chain before running away.<br /><br />A complaint has been registered at Kyathasandra Police Station. Police have initiated a case and are reviewing CCTV footage to identify and trace the accused.
