A second-year PU college student was allegedly assaulted by her uncle for refusing to drop out of school at Palya village in Nanjangud taluk of Mysuru district.<br /><br />The injured student has been identified as Poornima. According to the police complaint, the incident occurred after she returned home from writing her II PUC Kannada examination.<br /><br />It is alleged that her uncle, Somanna, entered the house and attacked her with a stick, objecting to her continuing her education. Family members who intervened were also assaulted.<br /><br />Poornima has alleged that she was being raised under Somanna’s care and that he did not want her to pursue her studies or build a better future.<br /><br />She has been admitted to the Nanjangud Government Hospital and is undergoing treatment.<br /><br />A case has been registered against Somanna and six others at the Nanjangud Rural Police Station.
