Reform Wales launches 2026 Senedd Election manifesto with Dan Thomas and Nigel Farage making key pledges

Reform Wales launched their 2026 Senedd Election manifesto today ahead of the Senedd elections in May - with the party pledging to scrap default 20mph speed limits; and the Nation of Sanctuary policy, to end the use of migrant hotels in Welsh communities.<br />The insurgent party is battling with Plaid Cymru for the top spot in crunch elections in May.<br />Leader Dan Thomas, was joined by Nigel Farage in Newport, in announcing that a Reform Welsh Government would scrap default 20mph speed limits and implement key road upgrades including an M4 Relief Road and the A55. <br />A BBC Wales poll this week found 54% of people in Wales oppose the 20mph speed limit. <br />The pair will also announced key pledges including scrapping the Nation of Sanctuary policy. Polling by ITV in September showed 49% of people in Wales would back such a move. <br />Other policies which Thomas says will ‘put Wales first’ include scrapping international aid and instead spending taxpayers’ cash in Wales, and prioritising Welsh people for social housing.<br />Reform Wales have also pledged to end the use of migrant hotels in Welsh communities and support the Welsh language. <br />In a suite of measures designed to ease cost of living pressures, the Party announced a 5% council tax referendum limit, a review of business rates and a ‘tax lock’ pledge that promises not to introduce any fresh levies in Wales. <br />On the NHS, Reform reiterated that the Welsh health service will always remain free, and pledge to slash waiting lists, end corridor care and future-proof the NHS by upgrading hospitals and digital infrastructure.<br />In a move that will delight rural communities, the Party pledged to reform the Sustainable Farming Scheme to ‘let farmers farm’, and work with farmers to deliver a 10-year food strategy.<br />Commenting, Dan Thomas, Leader of Reform Wales, said:“This manifesto is a blueprint for real change here in Wales.<br />“These promises put Wales and Welsh communities first, and unlike the pledges put forward by other parties, these are deliverable. <br />“Armed with this blueprint, we have all the building blocks to end a generation of decline here in Wales.”<br />Nigel Farage MP, Leader of Reform UK, said: “I’m immensely impressed by the hard work that has gone into developing this ambitious but realistic blueprint for government.<br />“In a Senedd Election campaign that has been characterised by fantasy economics from the other parties, this document is a serious plan to deliver the real change Wales deserves.<br />“I look forward to campaigning alongside Dan and the Welsh team between now and May 7.”<br />
