A water shortage looms as the western half of Taiwan records its lowest rainfall levels in 75 years. Anxiety is particularly high for farmers in Kaohsiung, who are preparing for the upcoming rice planting season. <br /> <br />The agriculture ministry says they will implement planned irrigation to help conserve water. Taiwan’s reservoirs are still at 30-90% capacity, which means that farmland doesn’t need to be left fallow yet. <br /><br />However, with more dry weather predicted, the government is urging the public to help save water where they can.
