TV Channel ABC Denver7 reported on March 4th, 2026 about four AFC Urgent Care (American Family Care) clinics closing for the day due to what they described as "unforeseen circumstances". The reality was employees staged a mass call-out strike over what they describe as unfair compensation and pay cuts made with little notice. The station adds staff members have sent emails to company leadership about their concerns, which they claim was ignored.

My own patient & customer experience with AFC: $175 cash payment, gone and nothing to show for it and my wasted time. You can see around 100 hours of video on what happened to me here and elsewhere. After 1 month of trying to call American Family Care (AFC) urgent care in Birmingham, Alabama, I am told by office manager "Sadler" of Cahaba Village (near Mountain Brook), Birmingham, Alabama that there is nothing they will do to correct a misdiagnosed 2019 X-Ray I had taken. Sadler would not give me his name (he deals with the public every day) or say who he spoke to in the company about my issue. Other AFC branches do not know the name of this manager either only his nickname. Later discovered Sadler was actually MD Christopher Blake Thomas. His voice is identical to an interview he gave for WVTM channel 13 news you listen to online.

Dr. Blake Thomas MD's name appears as supervisor to nurse Kimberly Kelly on the top of records I received from a 2019 American Family Care, Birmingham, AL. visit in 2019 (I was a patient). I tried to call him about my misdiagnosed X-Ray, in which Dr. Ana Maria Echenique M.D. recorded no injuries present therein. I knew this was in error. When I got the images I found evidence of broken skull bone and head trauma, CSF fluid and parasites filled this wound. Appears in these X-Ray images as 3 inch diameter translucent oval between skull and cervical areas. In other CT & MRI I had later this was an area where broken skull bone and infection shows up.

The staff in the clinic use nicknames and pseudonyms, they usually will not give their real names but are liable and responsible anytime they talk about health matters AND they do not possess a medical license.

I received an X-ray here that was misdiagnosed and referred onward to a highway 280 neurologist (Kyle Hudgens / Grandview Neurology) and 50 year experienced orthopedic doctor (Perry L. Savage Sr. / OrthoAlabama Spine & Sports) (but was told the x-ray showed normal, no injuries) that led to referrals to doctors who would not acknowledge my injury and a $600 fee ($300x2). At the same time I was chasing my tail on this thing, I was going critical from a massive infection and parasite infestation the doctors were telling me was not there.

I called Experity as well, the company Echenique worked for and was setup. They made a deal with me to give permission to access my records at AFC with the understanding they would do a reread, acknowledge the error and correct this issue.
