Despite its sensational American title, the film contains no actual vampires. Instead, it follows a scientist whose experiments with radiation‑based serums transform him into a monstrous killer.<br /><br />The story centers on Jeanette, a nightclub dancer who becomes disfigured in a car accident. Dr. Alberto Levin, obsessed with restoring her beauty, uses an experimental serum called Derma 28 to heal her. When the serum runs out, he begins murdering women to obtain the biological material needed to continue the treatment.
