Council workers refuse to empty wheelie bins and issue parking fines as pay dispute intensifies

Garbage collectors in Darebin, Merri-bek and Hume are making their absence felt in a 24hr strike to demand a 10% pay rise. More than 30,000 household rubbish bins across the council areas weren’t emptied today and will not be until the next bin day.
