In a shocking incident of road rage, a driver of a Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MBMC) bus was brutally assaulted by a mob in Kopri, Thane, leaving him unconscious with severe injuries.<br /><br />The incident occurred on April 10 at the final bus stop in Thane East. The victim, identified as Shankar Gajanan Chavan, was driving a bus from Mira Bhayandar to Thane when a dispute broke out with a two-wheeler rider near Gaimukh Ghat after the biker allegedly cut in front of the moving bus.<br /><br />Despite reportedly apologising and moving ahead, the biker, identified as Nilesh Shinde, allegedly followed the bus and called his associates.<br /><br />When the bus reached the Kopri depot, a group of 5–7 people, including a woman, boarded the vehicle and launched a violent attack on the driver. Armed with wooden sticks, they assaulted him inside the bus, dragged him out onto the road, and continued beating him mercilessly.<br /><br />The driver sustained serious head injuries and lost consciousness. The attackers also reportedly assaulted the conductor and damaged the ticketing machine.<br /><br />The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed inside the bus, which clearly show the accuse entering the vehicle and carrying out the assault.<br /><br />Police from Kopri station have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including attempt to murder and obstruction of government duty.
