Sambhal Bulldozer Action: Demolition of Illegal Religious Structures<br /><br />In the Bicholi village of Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district, local authorities deployed four bulldozers to demolish an Eidgah and an Imambara allegedly constructed on government-protected land. Led by SDM Nidhi Patel and supported by a massive security presence, including Rapid Reaction Force and PAC personnel, the action targeted structures occupying roughly 255 square meters of public property. The administrative crackdown followed a legal process initiated in January, which included land measurements and a formal eviction order from the Tehsildar court. Officials emphasized that the land, valued at several crores, was reserved for public utility as a pasture and compost site, making any private or religious construction illegal. Beyond the demolition, the government intends to impose significant financial penalties on those responsible for the encroachment to recover the land's value. To prevent potential unrest during the operation, the area was strictly cordoned off and security teams monitored the village from rooftops.
