Ex-con Jean Dubois returns to his derelict family farm, a bitter and solitary man. He finds Fleur, a homeless, starving little girl, squatting in his cellar. They form a fragile bond, surviving on bread and water while dreaming of cooking his dead mother’s pot-au-feu — but they’re too poor for meat.

They plant a garden and raise a sickly calf, hoping to sell enough to buy a beef shank. When the field is mysteriously poisoned and everything dies, Jean falls into depression.

To save him, Fleur makes a supernatural deal under a full moon: she sacrifices her body parts, one by one, to fertilize the crops and fatten the calf. The farm miraculously blooms overnight.

Jean wakes to find perfect ingredients and cooks the pot-au-feu for 30 hours without question. When he calls Fleur to eat, he discovers her dismembered corpse — what he didn’t cook of her. The memory hits: he did this before to his little sister Louise during a famine, which is why he went to prison.

He finishes the stew alone, then turns himself in. The horror: he’s trapped in a cycle, sacrificing children to recreate his mother’s meal, only to remember and punish himself after.

Vibe: Folk-horror meets psychological tragedy. Themes of grief, poverty, inherited trauma, and the cost of nostalgia. Creepy, cyclical, and bleak.

#LikeAndSubscribe #SleepStories #PeculiarTales #Storyelling #CreepyStories

Attributions:

Title: French accordion - for French ambience
Athor: vdublin
Souurce: https://freesound.org/s/508819/
License: Creative Commons 0

Title: SweetVibe.
Author: Bigvegie
Source: https://freesound.org/s/574524/
License: Creative Commons 0
