The federal opposition is suggesting new highly advanced stealth bombers could serve as a stopgap, until nuclear submarines are delivered under AUKUS. Shadow Defence Minister James Paterson says there is a risk Australia is left exposed waiting for nuclear-powered submarines, and the b-21 bombers could fill the gap.
