Future Easter Eggs To SimCity In Double Dragon Arcade ('87)? Super Mario Bros. Links

There are apparently many unusual easter eggs contained in the Technos Double Dragon video games (1987+). Here I mention a possible future nod to the SimCity city building game created by Will Wright & Maxis. <br /><br />I thought some of Double Dragon's music (in the Mission 2: "Industrial Area" & Mission 3: "Woods" zone) very similar in-style, to that heard in sequel SimCity 2000, released in 1993. <br /><br />Other clues to support this theory in the Double Dragon games: Note the collections of steel beams in Mission 2 (commonly used in the construction of modern buildings). Double Dragon II: The Revenge in 1988, has more of these raw materials, including bricks & cut logs. At the end of Mission 3, the bosses descend down an elevator on the side of a skeletal framework (or scaffolding) of metal beams. <br /><br />Hints of the title "Double Dragon" can be seen in SimCity. One of the random disasters that hinders the growth of the player's metropolis are monster attacks. A giant lizard or dinosaur (similar to Godzilla) is one such creature you have to watch out for. <br /><br />In another video I talked about Double Dragon's appearance in road trip adventure movie, The Wizard ('89), which features many references to Nintendo video games. Nintendo game designer Shigeru Miyamoto was a big fan of the game and personally involved in cutting the deal to bring it to the company's new console the Super Famicom / Super Nintendo Entertainment System. The original giant lizard monster was swapped out with Bowser from Super Mario Bros. in the console release. Reaching 500,000 population also allowed players to build a Mario statue in their city.
