NASA has revealed the existence of a previously unnoticed asteroid, named 2026 JK4, which will come closer to Earth than the moon, at approximately 230,000 miles — detected by the Catalina Sky Survey just days prior to its nearest approach. This 80-foot rock possesses enough size to destroy a small city, and although there is no risk of impact, the late discovery highlights the number of potentially dangerous asteroids that remain unidentified.
