LEOPARD MUM TAKES ON LIONESS TO SAVE HIDDEN CUB<br /><br />WITH PIX AND VID <br /><br />By Shuk Yee Tsang<br /><br />This is the dramatic moment a fearless leopard mother took on a lioness more than twice her size to protect her hidden cub in the wilds of Kenya.<br /><br />The incredible encounter was captured by Nili Gudhka in the Maasai Mara National Reserve after a female leopard and her three-month-old cub were suddenly ambushed by a lioness.<br /><br />As the lioness charged towards them, the cub managed to escape and hide in tall grass while the mother deliberately drew the predator away.<br /><br />The tense footage shows the leopard sprinting away from the lioness at remarkable speed while ensuring she ran in the opposite direction to where her cub was concealed.<br /><br />After an intense chase, the leopard successfully disappeared from sight and the lioness eventually abandoned the hunt.<br /><br />The group then waited anxiously for two hours to discover whether the mother and cub had survived the terrifying encounter.<br /><br />Thankfully, both animals later reunited unharmed.<br /><br />Nili added: “We soon saw the mother leopard and cub reunite.<br /><br />“They got away uninjured, thanks to the quick thinking of the mother.<br /><br />“Fearless and determined, she fought bravely, distracting the lioness in the opposite direction of where her cub was hiding."<br /><br />Viewers online were left amazed by the dramatic wildlife interaction.<br /><br />One commenter wrote: “I never realised that leopards are so small compared to lions!”<br /><br />Another added: “Nature at its best.”<br /><br />A third person commented: “What a fabulous interaction.
