The new BMW X5 has innovative SAE Level 2 driver assistance systems and active safety functions from the New Class technology clusters. Customers can therefore benefit from significant improvements, functional expansions and BMW Symbiotic Drive. An example of these innovations is the optional Highway and City Assistant. It enables “Entry‑2‑Exit” support on the highway and “Address‑2‑Address” support in the city. BMW's advanced Level 2 driver assistance systems are designed down to the smallest detail to ensure a seamless interaction between assistance and human driving behavior. The goal is not the highest possible automation in every situation, but rather a safe driver assistance experience that offers maximum benefit and always remains controllable. This means that the driver always remains involved in an interaction between human and artificial intelligence. With driver assistance activated, the driver can accelerate, steer and brake if necessary without immediately switching off the assistance system.
