Firefighters and their families, as well as councillors and MPs, have been protesting outside Kent Fire and Rescue headquarters ... over proposals to close five on-call fire stations and remove several on-call crews in the county. <br /><br />KFRS say the changes are based on risk and demand, but opponents fear some communities will be left unsafe. <br /><br />Today, at a consultation, the plans were paused for six weeks after what was a heated debate. <br /><br />Kristin Hawthorne has the report.
