HERO YACHT CAPTAIN FREES EXHAUSTED SEA TURTLE TRAPPED IN ROPE<br /><br />WITH PIX AND VID<br /><br />BY SHUK YEE TSANG<br /><br />A yacht captain came to the rescue of an exhausted sea turtle after spotting it struggling in the water, hopelessly tangled in a rope.<br /><br />Theodore Yiannisis, 52, a yacht captain from Greece, carefully guided the turtle alongside his boat before cutting away the rope and setting it free.<br /><br />Theodore said: "While we were at sea, I noticed a sea turtle struggling because it had become tangled in a rope.<br /><br />"It was clearly exhausted and unable to free itself. I immediately approached it carefully, brought it alongside the boat, and cut the rope to release it.<br /><br />"At that moment, my only thought was to help the turtle as quickly and safely as possible before it became too weak to survive.<br /><br />"Working at sea, I occasionally come across situations like this, but every rescue is unique and reminds me how serious marine pollution has become.<br /><br />"As someone who spends most of my life on the sea, I feel a responsibility to protect the marine environment whenever I can. I couldn't just leave the turtle there knowing I had the chance to help.<br /><br />"I hope this video raises awareness about the impact of marine litter and abandoned fishing gear on wildlife.<br /><br />Online, viewers praised the rescue.<br /><br />One commenter wrote: "Watching him swim away so freely made my day!!!"<br /><br />Another added: "One of the lucky ones.
