Marathon runners compete on drifting sea ice at North Pole

2026-07-20 1 Dailymotion

Twenty-three runners from seven countries competed in the "world's coolest marathon" on drifting sea ice at the geographic North Pole. After arriving aboard a polar expedition ship, participants ran laps on a 1,055-metre ice loop wearing thermal clothing and life vests, while armed guards watched for polar bears around the course. Denmark's Rikke Dam won the women's race in 6:54:02, while China's Wang Shengxian claimed the men's title in 3:52:22. Organisers said the temporary course disappeared with the drifting ice just hours after the event, making the extraordinary marathon as short-lived as the frozen track itself.

Follow for the latest updates.
.
.
.
.
#NorthPole #Arctic #Marathon #PolarMarathon #Running #Endurance #SeaIce #ExtremeSports #Adventure #RikkeDam #WangShengxian #WorldRecord #SportsNews #BreakingNews #Nature #LatestNews #NewsUpdate #NewsAlert #WorldNews #GlobalNews #CurrentAffairs #TopStories #Headlines #LiveUpdates #NewsFlash #TrendingNow #ViralNews #News #DevelopingStory #thenewswhirl
