CRONOS: a presentation of the choreographic work <br /> <br />CRONOS is a bold new dance piece, the result of an unorthodox movement workshop led by French choreographer Andréine Bel. Utilising a technique which deliberately baffles, amuses and mystifies the performers, she forced them to confront the naked core of their expressive powers. <br /> <br />Conceptually, Cronos is he who established temporal order, chronology. His gruesome deed and subsequent regurgitation work as powerful metaphors for cyclical time. In the production, primal physicality and a curvilinear time concept are the two rollers between which the performers submit themselves to a radical re-processing of ‘performance’. <br /> <br />The aural parameter of CRONOS is occupied largely by the music of the enigmatic Italian composer Giacinto Scelsi, a unique research into vibrations, sound and time. <br /> <br />----------- <br /> <br />« Je ne considère pas les danseurs comme de simples exécutants d'une partition chorégraphique. Il s’agit interroger en premier lieu la “sonorité des corps”: les sensations provoquées, au niveau pré-expressif, par un geste ou une attitude. Pendant ce travail d'exploration, la chorégraphie continue à se préciser de manière abstraite. Puis vient le moment de projeter ces idées dans un espace et un temps rigoureusement délimités. Ici encore je tiens à ce que les danseurs découvrent eux-mêmes, par la recherche d'une sensation profonde vers laquelle je les dirige progressivement, le mouvement qui répond aux intentions et contraintes chorégraphiques… <br /> <br />Le temps et l'espace sont donc essentiels dans ma démarche. L'espace de CRONOS existe déjà, j'en ai reçu l'empreinte dans cette vallée qui regarde le mont Bégo.
