Five young Americans were brought hand-cuffed into a Pakistani court on Monday.<br /><br />Police officials said emails of the suspects showed they had contacted the Taliban, and that the group had planned to use them for attacks in Pakistan.<br /><br />Police also told the court that the five men were in contact with an al Qaeda operative.<br /><br />The suspects deny the accusations saying they only want to give fellow Muslims financial and medical aid in Afghanistan.<br /><br />They also deny any contact with al Qaeda or any other militant group.<br /><br />Journalists were not allowed to cover the hearing, however a police official read out a statement.<br /><br />[Aamir Khan, Police Official]:<br />"Today we presented them before the court. We will present them before the court again at the next hearing which has been set for February 2nd."<br /><br />The students say they are being tortured by the police, chanting: "We're being tortured," as they left the court.<br /><br />Police want the court to indict the men for violating Pakistan's penal code and anti-terrorism law.<br /><br />The five men in their 20s, from the U.S. state of Virginia, were arrested last month in the city of Sargodha.<br /><br />Again, the trial will resume on February 2nd.
