<p><br /> Stars including Sir Elton John and Joss Stone have taken part in an American Idol fundraising event.<br /> </p><p><br /> The normal Idol competition took a break on Wednesday replaced by a two hour telethon.<br /> </p><p><br /> Called American Idol Gives Back with the help of big names and moving videos about 15 millions US dollars was raised.<br /> </p><p><br /> Other stars who took part included The Black Eyed Peas, Alicia Keyes and Annie Lennox.<br /> </p><p><br /> Now in it's third year for Idol Gives Back, which has raised more than 150 million U.S. dollars for charity to date.<br /> </p><p><br /> American Idol is a spin-off of the U.K's "Pop Idol", a reality program where competitors vie for a chance to win a recording contract. American Idol is nearing the end of its eighth season.<br /> </p>
