<p><br /> A young A&E doctor has become the first British woman to walk to the North Pole unsupported.<br /> </p><p><br /> Amelia Russell, 27, and her boyfriend Dan Darley, 34, walked 500 miles in 58 days from Resolute Bay in Canada to raise money for veteran charity Help for Heroes.<br /> </p><p><br /> The couple dragged food and equipment on sledges weighing over 650lb in temperatures of around -40C.<br /> </p><p><br /> Miss Russell dislocated her shoulder twice during the journey but was able to reset it herself. The second incident happened only last week when she fell through the ice.<br /> </p><p><br /> After completing the challenge, Dan and Amelia flew by helicopter to the island of Swalbard, north of Norway, where their families were waiting to be reunited with them.<br /> </p>
